Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I keep track of my day rate and kit fees across different productions?
- LineItems tracks each job separately — dates worked, day rate, kit fees, and box rentals, per production. Everything you log stays organized by job, so at invoice time nothing is missing or guessed at.
- Can I generate invoices from the days I already tracked?
- Yes. LineItems auto-generates invoices from the jobs, dates, and rates you already logged — no retyping into a separate template. The invoice is ready to send to the production or payroll company.
- How do film freelancers handle profit and loss for taxes?
- A P&L (profit and loss) statement summarizes your income and expenses for the year, and it is what most accountants ask self-employed crew for at tax time. LineItems exports a P&L spreadsheet built from the jobs and fees you tracked all year, so wrap-up is one export instead of a shoebox of paperwork.
- Can I track who hired me on each job?
- Yes. LineItems includes a lightweight CRM that records who brought you onto each job — and who you brought on when you did the hiring. Contacts stay attached to jobs, the way below-the-line work actually flows.
- Can I import my past jobs into LineItems?
- Yes. LineItems imports jobs from a CSV spreadsheet — download the template, fill in your job history, and upload it from the Settings tab. See the CSV Import Guide for the full walkthrough.
- Is my financial data private?
- Your job and financial data is stored locally on your device or in your private iCloud account, and LineItems uses no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. The developer cannot see your rates, clients, or invoices. See the Privacy Policy for details.
- What platforms is LineItems on?
- LineItems is an iOS app, available on the App Store.
